Maui Brewing and Jolly Pumpkin Sobrehumano Palena ‘ole – Day 43

Maui Brewing and Jolly Pumpkin collaborated to create Sobrehumano Palena ’Ole, a red ale brewed with liliko’i (passion fruit) and Michigan cherries.  The brewers crafted this ale while visiting each other’s breweries.  Do not assume that because the brewers worked together that these beers will taste the same.   If you didn’t know that this was a collaboration beer, you wouldn’t recognize that these beers are related in any way.

Goose Island Juliet – Day 19


I’m certainly not having a problem drinking at least one beer a day.  Yesterday, I had 4 different beers.  But I am sometimes having a problem with wanting to write.

Brouwerij Verhaeghe Echte Kriekenbier

Road trips are a great way to find new beers because every state gets different breweries in their distribution area. While at a friend’s wedding in Virginia I stumbled across this beer and couldn’t wait to open it. Its a Flanders Red which is one of my favorite styles. Flanders Red’s are typically lightly to heavily sour with flavors that range from vinegar (trust me, in a good way) to cherry and chocolate. Let’s see how this one measures up.
