I love football season! The weather begins to change and cools down to bearable temperature. The leaves begin to change and take on gorgeous shades of orange, red, and yellow. High school marching bands practice in open fields with spray painted lines. And gambling is just around every corner.
This year I am in a fantasy football league where craft beer that isn’t found regionally makes up the winner’s pot. I am also in a Pick ‘Em league where a winner is declared each week. I won the first week of the season and with a $2 entry fee each week, earned myself a healthy $32. Lastly, I am in a Survivor League. As of week 4, I am one of only 7 players left out of an original 26. If I win the whole thing, I am in the money $130.
I know that this is small beans. But I enjoy the competition of it all. Tonight, Steve and I are sitting on the couch watching the Browns play the Ravens. I am hoping for a Ravens win as they were selected in my Survivor League and my Pick ‘Em league. I also have Baltimore’s kicker. Let’s go Ravens!
I love pumpkin beers. The best ones in my opinion taste more like a pumpkin with some spices added and less like a cookie. That doesn’t mean that I don’t like Pumking. Of course I do. Who doesn’t? But I prefer a smooth, creamy pumpkin flavor with a hint of cinnamon and clove. Which means that Terrapin Pumpkinfest has just moved way up my list. It almost seems as if I cut open a pumpkin like an acorn squash, heated it up to get it soft and creamy, added some cinnamon and nutmeg, and then dove right in with a spoon. Or like the picture on the label shows, a tap was inserted directly into a pumpkin. Yum is not a good enough descriptor for this beer. Definitely top 5 pumpkin beers I’ve ever tasted.
